The second edition of the Dubai Police Ramadan Games attracted 3,000 people from more than 40 Arab and foreign nationalities, who competed to win medals and cash prizes worth AED 800,000.
Organized by the Sports Affairs Department at the Dubai Police, the event witnessed a tremendous public turnout over 21 days, featuring 23 team and individual sports, attracting double the number of participants compared to the last year’s edition.
Brigadier Ali Khalfan Al Mansouri, Director of the General Department of Community Happiness at Dubai Police, praised the Sports Affairs Department, along with all the partners and sponsors involved, for their efforts in delivering professional sports competitions that genuinely showcase the Dubai Police’s exceptional ability to organize world-class tournaments and initiatives for internal and external audiences.
He affirmed that this event comes within the framework of the Dubai Police’s commitment to organizing various sports and health events that contribute to spreading the culture of sports in the community and raising awareness of the significance of physical and mental fitness in improving individuals’ quality of life.
Al Mansouri noted that this year’s Ramadan Games witnessed an excellent turnout, with 3,000 male and female players from the Dubai Police and external community participating in 23 individual and team sports. “The competition was intense, with players competing for the top three spots and valuable cash prizes totaling 800,000 AED,” he continued.
“This outstanding success is a testament to the success of the event’s goals, which aimed to promote the culture of sports in the community and enhance physical and mental fitness for a better quality of life,” Al Mansouri added.
Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Basit Ali, Director of the Sports Affairs Department, reaffirmed the success of this edition of the Ramadan Games, indicating that 222 winners competed in 23 individual and team sports, including Seven-a-side football, Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Badminton, Snooker, Shooting, Taekwondo, Rowing, Athletics, Archery, Tennis, Physical Fitness, Weightlifting, Rapid Chess, Tug-of-War, Cycling, Swimming, Mini-Golf, Cricket, Darts, Cross country, Dubai Police Obstacle Challenge, and Traditional Games.
He pointed out that the competitions were divided into amateur and professional categories, held in four locations: Dubai Police Officers Club, Dubai Police Academy, Palm Jumeirah Island, and Danube Sports City.
“The competitions lasted 21 days during the holy month of Ramadan, totaling 480 hours. Over 100 people were allocated to manage the Ramadan Games, in addition to more than 15 sponsors and supporters,” he explained.
“The winners of the top three positions, whether at the team or individual level, received gold, silver, and bronze medals, as well as cash prizes that varied depending on the sport,” Lt. Col. Abdul Basit concluded.
