Dubai, UAE (P.R.): H.E. Major General Pilot Ahmed Mohammed Bin Thani, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Ports Affairs at Dubai Police, recently attended the graduation ceremony of ten female graduates from the second batch of the Marine Boats Driving Course.

The six-month-long course focused on qualifying and training female officers to navigate marine boats.

The graduation ceremony was also attended by Colonel Dr. Hassan Suhail Al Suwaidi, Director of the Ports Police Station; Colonel Rashid Thani Almheiri, Deputy Director of the Ports Police Station, and several heads of departments at the Station. Additionally, representatives from partners, including the Women’s Council of Dubai Police, Dubai Ladies Club, and Nemo Diving Center, were also in attendance.

Congratulating the graduates, Bin Thani affirmed the Dubai Police’s commitment, under the directives of His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, the Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, to equip and qualify male and female officers with cognitive and specialized skills and abilities to perform their duties with efficiency and professionalism.

Col. Dr. Al Suwaidi, indicated that the graduation ceremony marked the second batch of female officers to be trained in marine boat navigating, bringing the total number of qualified female officers to 21. He emphasized the growing interest among female officers in specializing and receiving training in maritime tasks such as diving, rescue operations, participation in marine events, and responding to accidents and reports.

Al Suwaidi highlighted that the course included a variety of specialized training programs, such as swimming, first aid, marine safety, navigation, boat driving, rescue operations, and diving. He pointed out that equipping female officers with these skills and abilities contribute to achieving Dubai Police’s strategic objectives of serving the community, responding to emergencies, and participating in women-specific events that require the presence of female police officers.

At the end of the ceremony, Bin Thani presented graduation certificates to the female officers, encouraging them to continue developing their skills and knowledge by staying up-to-date with the best international practices in marine rescue and safety.
