‘Unleash’ Retreat: Dubai Police Reaffirms Commitment to Empower People of Determination

Dubai, UAE: Dubai Police’s Empowerment Council for People of Determination organised an inspirational retreat titled “Unleash”, engaging influential members of society, limb amputees, and experts in the field of prosthetics and rehabilitation.

The aim was to devise an innovative, sustainable plan that fulfils the ambitions of People of Determination, fosters creative ideas to serve this vital community sector, and enhances communication and interaction among individuals with limb amputations.

The retreat took place at the Dubai Police Officers’ Club in Al Jaddaf, with the presence of Dubai Police assistant commandants, directors of the general departments and police stations, influencers, experts in the fields of sports, medicine, art, and amputees, along with several employees.

Major General Ahmed Mohammed bin Thani, Assistant to the Commander-in-Chief for Ports Affairs, expressed Dubai Police’s keenness on empowering this significant community sector. He also affirmed their commitment to providing all forms of support to empower them and other people of determination in society.

Captain Abdullah Al Shamsi, President of the Empowerment Council for People of Determination at Dubai Police, emphasised the Council’s commitment to implement leadership directives, aiming to mobilise all material and human capabilities to provide pioneering and innovative services to People of Determination.

Participants shared their experiences, including one individual’s inspiring journey to recovery following the amputation of her leg. 

Zainab Al Aqabi presented her story, titled “From Disability to Global Recognition,” detailing how her disability changed her life for the better.

Specialist Charles Stenger spoke on the importance of ongoing rehabilitative therapy, regular checks, daily care and handling of prosthetic limbs.

At the retreat’s conclusion, Major General Ahmed Mohammed bin Thani honoured limb amputees, partners, and Charles Stenger.
