Islamabad, Pakistan: The Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resources Development Minister Sajid Hussain Turi is on a three day official visit to the Islamic Republic of Azerbaijan. The Minister led a delegation and engaged in discussions with the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Azerbaijan during his visit.
During the meeting, Minister Turi expressed his satisfaction with the high-level relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan. He highlighted the deep-rooted friendship, brotherhood, and strategic partnership that exist between the two countries. also commended Pakistan’s unwavering support for the territorial of Azerbaijan, particularly its political during the 44-day Patriotic War.
The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Azerbaijan, represented by Minister Sahil Babayev, acknowledged the strong cooperation between the two countries international institutions. The Ministers discussed the expanding relations in the social field and underscored the potential for further development in the areas of labor and social protection.
Significantly, in May last, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Labor and Human Resources Development of Pakistan Living Abroad signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in labor, employment, and social protection. Additionally, the National Observatory on Labor Market and Social Protection Issues of Pakistan Global and the Strategic Research Center signed a cooperation document. These agreements demonstrate the commitment to enhancing collaboration and sharing best practices between the two countries.
the meeting, Azerbaijan highlighted its recent social reforms and positive experiences in the development of digital platforms and proactive services in the social field. They expressed their readiness to share the DOST concept’s experience, which focuses on creating digital platforms for social services, with Pakistan.
Moreover, the establishment of the Labor Center of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Baku was discussed as a vital step in further relations between member countries, including Azerbaijan and Pakistan.
Minister Turi emphasized Pakistan’s keenness to strengthen relations with Azerbaijan and expressed his positive impressions of the visit. He further highlighted the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation in the areas of labor, employment, and social protection.
As a culmination of the fruitful discussions, the Ministry of Labor Social Protection of the Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resources Development of Pakistan signed an Action Plan for 2023-2024. The plan outlines the implementation of the MoU on cooperation in, employment social. It encompasses several key areas, including the monitoring and forecasting of the labor market, prevention of informal employment, and the development of programs for vocational training and professional.
