Abu Dhabi, UAE – The Emirates Falconers’ Club is gearing up for a special Falcon Auction during the 20th edition of ADIHEX 2023, following the immense success of the previous year’s event. Notably, the 2022 edition saw the sale of the most expensive falcon in ADIHEX history, with an American falcon named “Pure Gear – Ultra White” fetching over AED 1,000,000 (approximately $275,000).
This Captive-bred Falcon Auction is a highlight for falconry enthusiasts and breeders, playing a pivotal role in promoting the falcon farm industry worldwide. The event, organized by the Emirates Falconers’ Club, is set to take place from September 2nd to 8th, 2023, under the theme “Sustainability and Heritage… A Reborn Aspiration.”
The auction will feature elite falcons from local production, winners of the Most Beautiful Captive-Bred Falcons Contest, falcons from participating exhibitors, and rare selections. Notably, the quality and variety of birds on display have significantly improved over the years, with a focus on hunting and competition falcons.
The auction includes six categories for both local and international productions, including various falcon species such as Pure Gyr and Pure Saker. New features for 2023 include falcon daily raffle draws and live broadcasts of the auction on ADIHEX social media platforms and the website.
To participate in the auction, falcon farm owners must meet specific requirements, including official registration at ADIHEX, providing necessary documents and health certificates for their falcons, and adhering to all regulatory conditions.
The Falcon Auction aims to support the heritage of falconry, encourage sustainable hunting, and promote the UAE’s scientific contributions to bird breeding research. It also aims to provide high-quality falcons to falconers as the falconry season kicks off.
Various sponsors and partners, including the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, the International Fund for Houbara Conservation, and others, are contributing to the success of ADIHEX 2023. The event targets falconry enthusiasts, traders, and the wider community, with a focus on preserving heritage and sustainable hunting practices.
