Dubai, UAE – Mr. Wasi Shah, Minister of State for Tourism and Chairman of the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation, paid a visit to the exhibition titled ‘The North’ at ICD Brookfield Place in Dubai. During his visit, Mr. Shah was briefed by Mr. Amad Mian, the curator of the exhibition, about the concept and purpose of the event.
‘The North’ exhibition is designed to showcase the diverse and breathtaking landscapes of Pakistan as experienced and captured by three talented artists: Louis Szapary, Saara Knapp, and Phoebe Stewart Carter. These artists participated in Pakistan’s Daastangoi Gallery’s residency program, which allowed them to immerse themselves in Pakistan’s natural beauty for ten days in September 2022. Their artwork is on display at Brookfield Place in Dubai until September 2023.
Mr. Wasi Shah expressed his admiration for the artists’ work, highlighting the significant role artists play in bridging cultural gaps. He commended Daastangoi Gallery for its innovative approach in selecting talent from around the world to showcase Pakistan’s natural wonders through their artistry. The Minister also emphasized the vast tourism potential within Pakistan and noted that this exhibition aligns perfectly with the government’s efforts to promote the country’s tourism sector. He underlined that the artwork presented carries both cultural and economic significance for Pakistan and has global environmental relevance.
Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi also praised Daastangoi Gallery for its commitment to promoting Pakistan’s natural beauty and commended the high quality of the artwork on display at ICD Brookfield Place.
