Dubai, UAE – The UAE Men’s cricket team is gearing up for the highly anticipated Gulf Cricket T20I Championship, set to commence in Doha, Qatar on September 15, 2023. The UAE team will be led by Mohammad Waseem as they compete against formidable opponents from the Gulf region, including Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and Saudi Arabia. The championship promises thrilling cricket action, with each team facing off against all others once in the group stage. The top two teams will battle it out in the championship final on September 23, 2023.
In an exciting development, the UAE squad welcomes the inclusion of uncapped left-arm spinner Nilansh Keswani, adding depth and diversity to their bowling lineup. Additionally, the return of seamer Raja Akifullah Khan, who last played in the T20I series against Afghanistan in February, bolsters the team’s pace attack.
Notably, 13 players from the UAE squad were part of the recent hard-fought T20I series against New Zealand, where they narrowly lost 2-1 in Dubai. Their experience from that series will undoubtedly be valuable in the upcoming championship.
