Dubai Women’s Run 2023: Empowering Women and Sustainability

Dubai, UAE – The 10th edition of the Dubai Women’s Run, the largest female sports event, is set to take place on November 5th at Dubai Festival City. Organized by Plan B Group, in association with the UAE Athletic Federation and Dubai Sports Council, this event aims to champion female health and wellbeing while emphasizing sustainability.

Sustainable Initiatives
This year, the Dubai Women’s Run will have a strong sustainability theme. The event will rely solely on solar and human power-generated features to run the DWR Village and main stage. All materials used for the race day kit, including t-shirts, bags, and route maps, will be reusable, and eco-solvent ink and recycled paper will be used for on-ground messaging. The event will carry taglines such as “Stride Towards Sustainability: Every Step Counts!” and “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle – Even During Your Run!” to promote sustainability.

Race Categories and Prizes
The run is divided into three categories: 3km, 5km, and 10km. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three winners in the 5km and 10km categories. For the 10km category, the first prize is 5,000aed, followed by 3,000aed for second place, and 2,000aed for third place. In the 5km category, winners can expect 3,000aed for first place, 2,000aed for second place, and 1,000aed for third place.

Promoting Women’s Health
Dubai Women’s Run 2023 is partnering with Friends of Cancer Patients (FoCP) to raise awareness of the importance of early detection in saving lives. FoCP will provide free screenings and expert advice through the Pink Caravan Medical Mobile Clinic on the event day.

Empowering Women in Sports
Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council, highlighted the event’s role in empowering and developing women in the sports field, emphasizing inclusivity across nationalities and ages.

Major General Dr. Muhammad Al-Murr, President of the UAE Athletics Federation, expressed pride in empowering women and supporting national goals through this event.

A Commitment to Sustainability and Women Empowerment
Dr. Harmeek Singh, Race Chairman of Dubai Women’s Run and Founder & Chairman of Plan B Group, emphasized the event’s commitment to sustainability, gender equality, and recognizing the achievements of women through initiatives like “Real Women of Dubai” and “#Yes2her” campaigns.

Support from Dubai Festival City
Genevieve Colaco, Regional General Manager, Marketing & Customer Experience at Al-Futtaim Real Estate, expressed Dubai Festival City’s honor in supporting an event that celebrates the strength, unity, and positivity of women.

Special Ambassadors and Patrons
The event will feature special ambassadors, including “10 Women of Substance for Today” and “5 Women of Substance for Tomorrow.” Community Ambassadors and members of the Special Olympics Squad will also participate. UformFitness serves as the fitness partner, Zulekha Hospital as the medical partner, and Lovin Dubai as the media partner.

The Dubai Women’s Run continues to be a symbol of female empowerment, health, and sustainability, uniting women from all walks of life in a celebration of strength and unity.
