Ajman, UAE – The Ajman Department of Tourism Development (ADTD) wrapped up its “Sustainable Green Tourism and Investment” workshop with resounding success. Held at the Ajman Saray Hotel, the event united experts and stakeholders from diverse fields to explore critical themes within the global tourism industry.
The workshop’s agenda encompassed discussions on the significance of “World Tourism Day” in fostering global cultural and economic exchange, 2023 global tourism objectives, and strategies to achieve them. It also addressed the environmental impact of tourism, sustainable practices, and the concept of “green investments” for sustainable tourism development, aligning with the UN’s sustainable development goals.
Attendees reviewed green investment opportunities within the tourism sector, emphasizing eco-friendly transportation and renewable resources. Standards for managing tourist facilities and restaurants were highlighted to ensure quality service while preserving the environment.
Mahmood Khaleel Alhashmi, Director General of ADTD, stressed the importance of sustainability in tourism, emphasizing the need to balance economic development with natural and cultural preservation. The department actively collaborates with partners to ensure the sustainability of Ajman’s tourism sector.
Hamda Al Matrooshi, Director of the Strategy and Performance Development Office, hailed the workshop as a platform for devising sustainable strategies and fostering cooperation to achieve sustainable development through tourism.
