Abu Dhabi, UAE – Pakistan is making a strong showing at this year’s Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC), with around 10 companies representing the exploration, oil marketing, and related sectors. The country’s Minister of Energy, Power, and Petroleum, Muhammad Ali, expressed enthusiasm for the promising start of the event, highlighting the remarkable response from attendees.
Muhammad Ali emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to decarbonization and electrification as vital components of its future energy strategy. The efforts include energy conservation, electrification initiatives, and repurposing natural gas for power generation to electrify appliances and vehicles. The caretaker Minister outlined three key priorities for the energy sector: improving data availability and policy revisions to address exploration challenges, expanding the natural gas supply, and focusing on the power sector. This includes investments in transmission infrastructure, promoting renewables, and resolving circular debt issues to ensure a stable power supply and payment resolution.
Pakistan is eager to accelerate the decarbonization of its energy sector in collaboration with Middle Eastern partners who possess advanced technologies and expertise. ADIPEC serves as a significant platform for fostering collaboration between the global energy industry and governments, making Pakistan’s presence at the event a clear signal of its commitment to sustainable energy practices.
