Dubai, UAE – The Dubai Police, represented by the People of Determination Empowerment Council, has made a significant presence at the annual Access Abilities Expo, which began on Monday at the Dubai World Trade Center and will continue until Wednesday. The expo serves as a platform for showcasing the latest technological advancements and modern techniques aimed at enhancing the quality of life for people of determination.
Major Abdullah Hamad Al Shamsi, Chairman of the People of Determination Empowerment Council at Dubai Police, expressed the Council’s commitment to supporting people of determination and highlighted their participation in the event. He emphasized the directive of His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, the Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, to allocate resources and joint efforts towards improving the lives of people of determination in alignment with Dubai’s societal strategy, ‘My Community … A City for Everyone.’
The Dubai Police stand at the expo features various digital and innovative technological solutions to support people of determination. Some of the notable offerings include:
Sign Language Virtual Interpreter: A service that enables people of determination to access Dubai Police services using sign language.
Smart Screen Easy Access Translator: This program, available at all smart police stations, assists individuals with visual impairments in accessing information.
Educational and Recreational Workshops: Customized workshops designed to cater to the specific needs of people of determination.
‘Social Safety’ Stories: Stories prepared by the People of Determination Empowerment Council in collaboration with autism spectrum disorder specialists. These stories, available in Arabic and English, are designed for individuals with autism spectrum disorder and can be accessed through the Dubai Police smart app.
‘Labbeh’ Service: An updated version of the ‘Labbeh’ service, available at all Dubai Police Stations, which allows people of determination to communicate with customer happiness officers via video chat using an intercom device without leaving their vehicles.
Chess Championship: The sixth edition of the Chess Championship, organized in collaboration with the Positive Spirit initiative, is taking place for the first time within the Access Abilities Expo.
The People of Determination Empowerment Council is also hosting a range of shows, activities, and programs tailored for both people of determination and the wider community. These include para taekwondo performances, interactive workshops on sign language and effective communication with people of determination, informative sessions on cybersecurity and traffic safety, as well as lectures on security and safety matters. Attendees are also being briefed on services available via the force’s 901 call center and emergency hotline 999. Musical performances by the Dubai Police Academy band and impressive demonstrations featuring K9 police dogs have been captivating the audience.
