Abu Dhabi, UAE – Team Abu Dhabi has confirmed its lineup for the upcoming Grand Prix of Sharjah, scheduled to take place from December 8th to 10th. The team will field a three-boat lineup consisting of renowned drivers Shaun Torrente, Rashed Al-Qemzi, and Thani Al-Qamzi.
Shaun Torrente, the defending UIM F1H2O World Champion, returns to the racing scene after serving a one-race suspension due to a yellow card. His last visit to Khalid Lagoon witnessed him dramatically clinching his third world title, winning from the pits after retiring from the race.
Rashed Al-Qemzi, who has competed in two F1H2O races this season, replaces Thani Al-Qamzi for this event. He achieved a seventh-place finish in the Grand Prix of China in Zhengzhou and secured a 10th place in Sardinia. Additionally, Al-Qemzi has already claimed the UIM F2 World Championship title this year with notable performances.
Team Abu Dhabi has faced a challenging season this year after their impressive sweep of all four trophies in 2022. Despite their struggles, Shaun Torrente still holds an outside chance of winning the Pole Position Trophy. The team, based at the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club (ADMSC), will need exceptional driver performances and results to defend their Teams’ Championship title.
Thani Al-Qamzi, an experienced Emirati driver, is set to make his 151st career F1H2O race start in Sharjah. He aims to secure his 45th career podium and is eager to claim a race win, with his last victory dating back to the previous season. Al-Qamzi currently holds fifth place in the Drivers’ Championship after consistent finishes in the recent races.
The Grand Prix of Sharjah promises exciting racing action, with Team Abu Dhabi’s formidable lineup looking to make a strong impact in the upcoming competition.
