Dubai, UAE – Dubai Police has introduced an innovative approach to streamline the reporting of minor traffic accidents using cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) technology. This groundbreaking mechanism was unveiled during their participation at GITEX Global Technology 2023.

The new system, integrated into the “Minor Accident Reporting” service on the Dubai Police app and website, automates the analysis of minor accidents and issues reports to drivers instantly, eliminating the need for human intervention. While currently in the development and testing phase, this AI-enabled feature is poised to revolutionize accident reporting in the city.

Major General Khaled Nasser Al Razooqi, Director of the Artificial Intelligence Department at Dubai Police, emphasized that the primary goal is to enhance public services through smart innovation. The AI-based mechanism is expected to expedite the issuance of traffic reports, reduce manual processes by 50%, and alleviate traffic congestion stemming from minor accidents.

The “Minor Accident Reporting” service empowers drivers to self-report accidents, bypassing the need for a police car to be on-site. This not only prevents traffic congestion but also saves drivers valuable time. The service is designed to be user-friendly, with drivers inputting essential details such as vehicle plate numbers, driving license numbers, and capturing images of the vehicles involved. Reports are then sent via email for easy forwarding to insurance companies.

In the near future, once AI integration is complete, the reporting process will be even simpler. Drivers will follow just four steps:

  1. Log in to the Dubai Police smart app.
  2. Submit driver’s license, personal ID, or vehicle plate number, and upload pictures.
  3. The AI system will determine liability and assess damage locations.
  4. The AI mechanism will promptly issue the accident report.

This groundbreaking initiative is in line with the directives of His Excellency Lieutenant Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, the Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, who seeks to continuously enhance smart services, streamline transactions for users, and save their time and effort.

Dubai Police’s foray into AI-driven minor accident reporting represents a significant stride towards a more efficient and technology-driven approach to public services, ultimately benefiting both residents and the city’s traffic management.
