DUBAI, UAE – A groundbreaking weekend unfolded in Dubai as Baseball United, the pioneering professional baseball league for the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent, made its historic debut. The two-game series showcased thrilling performances, enthusiastic crowds, and a host of firsts, culminating in the Baseball United East All-Stars securing victory in both contests.

Opening Night Extravaganza: Baseball United Breaks Ground
Over 10,000 fans flocked to the specially designed stadium for Baseball United’s inaugural games. The atmosphere was electric, with families from diverse backgrounds enjoying the spectacle. Baseball United Chairman, CEO, and Majority Owner, Kash Shaikh, set the stage with a passionate welcome, joined by Major League Baseball legends serving as Co-Owners.

The festivities included a ceremonial first pitch by Dr. Tayeb Kamali, representing the Emirates Cricket Board, and performances of the national anthems of the UAE and the USA. A surprise firework show illuminated the night sky, marking the significance of this historic moment.

Baseball United transformed the traditional cricket grand lounge into upscale Diamond and Gold Clubs, introducing on-field VVIP Cabanas and giant LED walls displaying baseball graphics. Shaikh expressed his gratitude to local partners, sponsors, and fans for turning the dream of bringing baseball to the region into a remarkable reality.

Game 1: East All-Stars Edge Out West in a Thriller
In the opening clash, the East All-Stars secured a 3-2 victory over the West. The game featured a pitching duel between Bartolo Colon and Jair Jurrjens. The West initially took a 2-0 lead, but the East staged a comeback, with a pivotal moment being Pakistan prospect Wahid’s scoring run due to a series of events. The East completed the comeback, winning 3-2, with Andrelton Simmons delivering the decisive blow.

Pablo Sandoval made history by hitting the first-ever 6-run home run, a result of Baseball United’s innovative “Money Ball” rule. The East’s explosive fifth inning, featuring multiple home runs, secured their triumph despite a late rally from the West.
