Dubai, UAE – The Indian Business and Professional Council (IBPC) recently organized its signature event, Retail Conclave 2023, at the Anantara Hotel Downtown on Thursday, 14 December 2023. The focus of the event was on “Digital Transformation and Sustainability in Retail,” aligning with the recent COP 28 outcomes where a UAE ‘Consensus on Climate Change’ was adopted.

Suresh Kumar, Chairman of IBPC, emphasized in his keynote address that sustainability in retail is no longer an option but a strategic imperative for success. H.E Shri Satish Kumar Sivan, Consul General of India in Dubai, highlighted the crucial intersection of digital innovation and sustainability in shaping the future of retail.

Special Guest of Honor, H.E. Dr. Mohammed Al Kindi, former UAE Minister of Environment and Water, discussed how digital transformation empowers retailers to optimize operations and champion sustainable practices. The event was curated by the Retail and E-commerce Focus Group of IBPC Dubai, led by Dr. Sahitya Chaturvedi.

Dubai Customs, represented by H.E. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director General, was honored for facilitating retail business in Dubai. The conclave recognized leaders such as the CEO of Ajmal Perfumes Group, Abdulla Ajmal, and others for their pathbreaking contributions to the retail sector.

Dr. Sahitya Chaturvedi presented social-economic facts and digital transformation statistics, highlighting that 83% of UAE consumers prefer retailers using technology for a better customer experience. The panel discussion featured senior officials from the retail industry discussing challenges, benefits, imperatives, and progress in digital transformation and sustainability.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by Gautam Sen Gupta, expressing gratitude for the participation of speakers, panelists, the audience, and sponsors. With over 70 events in 2023, the Retail Conclave marks a fitting conclusion to an informative and essential year for IBPC.
