Dubai, UAE – In a spectacular display of cultural richness and artistic brilliance, Bazm e Urdu Dubai’s (BeU) Annual Event, Mehfil-e-Urdu 2023, concluded on a high note at the Emirates International School. Dedicated to the legendary Meena Kumari, the evening featured a series of engaging activities and remarkable performances.
The event commenced with a vibrant audience filling the venue to capacity, setting the stage for an unforgettable night. Muskan Syed Riaz welcomed attendees with warmth and initiated the proceedings with an engaging Urdu quiz, setting a lively tone for the evening.
Hosted by Saima Naqvi, the event saw Rehan Khan, General Secretary of BeU, sharing the organization’s vision. The prestigious ‘Josh e Urdu Award’ was bestowed upon Janab Waseem Bareilvi in a ceremony held in Lucknow due to travel constraints. Janab Shakeel Khan, President of BeU, and Dr. Bu Abdullah, the Guest of Honor, extended greetings and welcomed distinguished guests, including Ms. Sania Saeed, Mr. Sachin Pilgaonkar, and Ms. Kamna Prasad.
The ‘Alamdar e Urdu Award 2023’ was presented to Mohtarma Kamna Prasad, who addressed the audience with inspiring words. The event also marked the launch of Bazm e Urdu Dubai’s annual magazine.
The ‘Rubaru’ segment featured a captivating discussion between Sania Saeed and Sachin Pilgaonkar, delving into incidents from Meena Kumari’s life. The highlight of the evening was Dr. Sayeed Alam’s masterpiece, the play ‘Meena Kumari,’ starring Tarannum Ahmed in a mesmerizing lead role. Accompanied by Kathak artist Ms. Anupama Kaushik and a team of musicians led by Mehran Shah, the play brought Meena Kumari’s ghazals to life, leaving the audience enchanted.
The grand finale received resounding applause, marking an unforgettable evening in the auditorium of Emirates International School, Dubai. The event, held on December 24, 2023, is destined to be etched in the city’s cultural memory.
