Abu Dhabi, UAE – Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, has given his approval for the establishment of a dedicated medical city focused on women and children’s health in Abu Dhabi. The project will integrate Sheikh Khalifa Medical City as a pediatric care center, the Corniche Hospital for women and newborns, a rehabilitation complex, and a mental health center.

The Crown Prince has also issued directives for the development of additional high-quality, specialized facilities, emphasizing an integrated and preventive healthcare system.
The center of excellence at the medical city will house over 200 doctors covering 29 specialties, including oncology, neurosurgery, and transplantations. Additionally, plans include the transfer of Corniche Hospital facilities to Sheikh Khalifa Medical City by 2027, providing 205 beds with dedicated wards for children and maternity services.
The relocated hospital will feature a team of over 120 doctors and 460 nursing specialists, focusing on obstetrics, gynecology, fertility services, and women’s mental health. The medical city will also host the Salma Children’s Rehabilitation Hospital and a center for women and children’s mental health.
The initiative underscores Abu Dhabi’s commitment to providing comprehensive healthcare services, with the medical city expected to play a pivotal role upon its scheduled opening in 2027.
