AlUla’s Royal Commission to Participate in 54th WEF Annual Meeting in Davos

Held under the theme ‘Rebuilding Trust,’ WEF will see RCU join more than 100 governments, major international organisations, and 1,000 of the world’s most important companies to address key economic, social, and environmental challenges.

AlUla, Saudi Arabia – The Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) is set to participate in the 54th World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, from 15-19 January. The event, known for bringing together global leaders, investors, academics, and policymakers, will serve as a platform for AlUla to share its comprehensive regeneration journey.

RCU, along with other Saudi entities, will engage in high-level discussions, bilateral meetings, and panel sessions to address critical environmental, social, and economic challenges. Located on Davos Promenade, the RCU Pavilion, designed to reflect AlUla’s cultural and physical landscape, will host sessions exploring global challenges, including topics like Building Resilient and Community-centric Economies and Implementing a Circular Economy.

The pavilion’s design will be a visual representation of AlUla’s heritage, featuring recently excavated statues from Dadan, a significant archaeological site. Visitors can explore AlUla’s past through these displays, its present via an interactive map, and its future through immersive VR experiences.

Sultan AlBooq, RCU’s Chief General Counsel, emphasized the opportunity to showcase AlUla’s story globally and underscored their commitment to building a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable future. He highlighted collaborations with partners and stakeholders, aiming for transformative growth and new opportunities aligned with Vision 2030 and the Saudi Green Initiative.

At WEF 2024, RCU will present its sustainability efforts, emphasizing holistic approaches to environmental protection and conservation. The theme ‘Rebuilding Trust’ aligns with RCU’s goal of fostering connections, relationships, and collaborations on regional and global levels.

RCU will use the event to demonstrate how digital priorities contribute to improving quality of life for visitors and citizens, supporting the long-term goal of building a resilient destination, diversified economy, and thriving community. The WEF’s focus on global responses to a changing world, including AI’s role in the economy and a long-term strategy for climate, aligns with RCU’s commitment to sustainability.

As part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and broader developmental goals, RCU’s participation at WEF 2024 aims to deliver cutting-edge economic, touristic, and sustainability-focused solutions, not only for AlUla but also for the broader region.
