Dubai, UAE – Tom Moody, the Director of Cricket for the Desert Vipers, expressed confidence in the team’s preparations for the upcoming DP World ILT20 season two. Moody, along with his coaching team, aims to build on last year’s performance and clinch the championship.
Colin Munro retains his role as captain, having impressed with his leadership in the previous season. Moody praised Munro’s adaptability and hinted at the possibility of the seasoned player occupying various batting positions. Munro’s recent form for Brisbane Heat in the BBL adds to the Vipers’ optimism.
Addressing the challenges posed by player movements due to international commitments, Moody emphasized the need to manage the squad effectively. The Desert Vipers boast a strong bowling attack and plan to utilize their squad’s depth strategically.
While discussing the super-sub rule, Moody suggested extending its application to UAE players, promoting their exposure and development. The inclusion of four UAE players in the squad, with a focus on spin, adds excitement and depth to the team.
However, the team faced a setback with Tom Curran ruled out of the tournament due to a knee injury. Moody expressed confidence in Curran’s recovery and acknowledged his significance both on and off the field.
The DP World ILT20 kicks off on January 19, with the Desert Vipers facing the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders on January 21 at the Dubai International Stadium. Tickets for all Desert Vipers matches are available for purchase on the official DP World ILT20 website and at Virgin Megastores across the UAE.
