Dubai, UAE – Dubai Police’s Punitive and Correctional Establishments, through the Humanitarian Care Section, have extended financial and in-kind assistance totaling AED 26,663,703 to male and female inmates over the past three years. Brigadier Marwan Abdul Karim Julfar, Director of the General Department of Punitive and Correctional Establishments, emphasized the Section’s commitment to supporting inmates and their families in alignment with the directives of Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police.
The initiatives, guided by Dubai Police’s strategic goals, aim to enhance security, safety, and community well-being, ensuring the full rights and improved quality of life for inmates. Brig. Julfar highlighted the holistic approach to inmate care, encompassing educational, vocational, and healthcare components. The ultimate goal is the assessment and rehabilitation of individuals, fostering a positive transformation that allows them to reintegrate into society with optimism and hope.
Captain Habib Al Zarouni, Head of the Humanitarian Care Section, detailed the utilization of donations exceeding AED 26 million, addressing various needs of inmates and their families. The disbursement included support for travel, community initiatives, educational programs, medical aid, family support, tuition fees, settling blood money, addressing debts, and providing for basic necessities. Al Zarouni emphasized the significant role of aid in improving inmates’ living conditions, supporting their families, and addressing financial challenges, showcasing the values of solidarity and compassion deeply ingrained in Emirati society.
