Jakarta, Indonesia – In response to the forthcoming presidential election in the Republic of Indonesia, H2O Racing and its promoter, InJourney, have announced the rescheduling of the Grand Prix of Indonesia. Originally slated for February 23-25, the prestigious event will now take place a week later, from March 1-3.

The decision to adjust the timing of the opening round of the 2024 UIM F1H2O World Championship comes as Indonesia prepares for its presidential election, a pivotal event in the nation’s political landscape. With the election scheduled around the same time as the Grand Prix, organizers deemed it necessary to accommodate the electoral process.

Stunning Lake Toba, situated within the Toba Caldera and recognized as one of Indonesia’s 20 geoparks, will once again serve as the picturesque backdrop for the on-water spectacle. This natural wonder attained global recognition in 2020 when it was designated as one of the UNESCO Global Geoparks, further enhancing its allure as a premier racing destination.

Last year’s edition of the event proved to be a resounding success, drawing an estimated crowd of 100,000 spectators to witness the thrilling qualifying rounds and the main race. Held on the southern shores of Lake Toba in Balige, the Grand Prix showcased the adrenaline-fueled action of powerboat racing against the breathtaking backdrop of the world’s largest volcanic lake.

With the rescheduled dates set to ensure a seamless integration with the electoral proceedings, anticipation mounts for another exhilarating edition of the Grand Prix of Indonesia. As enthusiasts eagerly await the roar of engines and the spray of water against the majestic landscape of Lake Toba, the stage is set for yet another unforgettable chapter in the annals of F1H2O racing.
