Dubai, UAE – Dubai Police have issued a stern warning following a series of five traffic accidents last year, all involving passengers protruding from vehicle windows or sitting on roofs while in motion. Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, emphasized the serious risks associated with such behavior, highlighting the potential for injuries and fatalities.
Offenders, Major General Al Mazrouei noted, will face penalties under federal traffic laws, including a 60-day vehicle impoundment, a 2000 AED fine, and 23 traffic points. Moreover, Decree No. 30 of 2023 mandates a release fee of up to 50,000 AED for impounded vehicles.
Last year saw five injuries resulting from individuals falling from moving vehicles, alongside 1183 violations and the impoundment of 707 vehicles for reckless driving. Major General Al Mazrouei stressed the importance of community collaboration in reducing traffic accidents, urging citizens to report violations through the ‘Police Eye’ service on the Dubai Police smart app or by contacting (901).
The warning underscores the shared responsibility between law enforcement and the community in ensuring road safety and preventing avoidable accidents caused by non-compliance with traffic regulations.
