Dubai, UAE – In commemoration of UAE National Environment Day and in alignment with the extension of the “Year of Sustainability” by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Keolis MHI, a leading transportation operator, hosted a community harvest event reaffirming its commitment to environmental stewardship. The event, organized by the Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) department, saw staff engaging in cultivating fresh produce at the company’s community garden.

Emphasizing sustainability and community involvement, the initiative mirrored the UAE’s dedication to environmental preservation. Participants included staff, the Executive team, and special guests, underscoring the company’s values and dedication to the UAE’s environmental objectives, including the UAE Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative and the National Climate Change Plan.

In a move to support eco-friendly practices, harvested vegetables were packaged in brown paper bags, aligning with the UAE’s ban on plastic bags. Mr. Paul Williams, QHSE Director at Keolis MHI, emphasized the company’s commitment to environmental responsibility and engagement with staff and peers, highlighting the event’s significance in promoting sustainable practices.

The event also resonated with Her Excellency Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak’s call to champion local products in the UAE, reflecting Keolis MHI’s dedication to realizing this shared objective through initiatives like the community garden.

Keolis MHI’s ongoing commitment to integrating environmentally conscious practices into its operational framework underscores its vision for a greener, more sustainable future. The company aims to set an example within the transportation industry, prioritizing eco-friendly initiatives and inspiring broader sustainability efforts.
