Dubai, UAE – Dubai’s Desert Vipers cricket team, competing in the UAE Twenty20 league, the DP World ILT20, has forged a groundbreaking partnership with Hertz UAE, a part of the Al-Futtaim Automotive Group. The collaboration aims to significantly reduce the team’s carbon footprint.

Over the course of a year, Hertz UAE will serve as the franchise’s Sustainable Mobility Partner, supplying electric and hybrid vehicles for eco-friendly transportation solutions. This strategic move aligns with the Desert Vipers’ ambitious goal of slashing carbon emissions by 50% by 2030, ultimately aiming for a net-zero status by 2040.

The partnership extends beyond vehicle provision, with Hertz UAE also supporting the Desert Vipers’ schools outreach program. This initiative not only introduces youngsters to cricket but also educates them about the pressing climate crisis.

As part of the collaboration, Hertz UAE’s logos will adorn the Vipers’ shirts distributed to students participating in the schools outreach program. Additionally, Hertz UAE will actively participate in events aimed at raising awareness about the Desert Vipers’ commitment to sustainability.

Commenting on the partnership, Desert Vipers CEO Phil Oliver expressed gratitude towards Hertz Al-Futtaim, emphasizing the significance of transitioning to electric and hybrid vehicles to fulfill their sustainability goals. Alexander Maas, Managing Director of Al-Futtaim Finance and Hertz UAE, echoed this sentiment, highlighting their commitment to driving change both on and off the field towards a sustainable future in alignment with the UAE Net-Zero 2050 Strategic Initiative.
