Dubai Police respond to 105 reports of cybercrimes against children

Dubai, UAE – In a robust move to safeguard children from the perils of cybercrimes, the Dubai Police Anti-Cybercrime Department has escalated its efforts with the establishment of a dedicated section focused solely on addressing cyber threats against minors.

Under the visionary leadership of His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, the Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, the Anti-Cybercrimes Against Children Section was inaugurated in September 2023. Since its inception, the department has meticulously handled 105 pieces of information, complaints, and reports related to cybercrimes targeting children.

Captain Ahmad Al Jallaf, Head of the Anti-Cybercrimes Against Children Section, emphasized the critical role of the specialized team in combating cyber threats directed at minors. “Our focus is unwavering in combating cybercrimes against children, employing advanced methodologies to detect and deter such nefarious activities,” stated Al Jallaf.

The section’s mandate extends to tackling a spectrum of criminal methods, including cyberbullying, distribution of child pornography, child enticement, exploitation, as well as cyber threats and extortion aimed at children. Al Jallaf underscored the importance of aligning these efforts with existing legal frameworks, such as the Child Rights Law and Federal Decree-Law on combating cybercrimes.

Furthermore, the initiative underscores Dubai Police’s commitment to upholding children’s rights and ensuring their safety in an increasingly digital landscape. Al Marri’s directive underscores the proactive approach of the law enforcement agency in addressing evolving threats in cyberspace.

In light of the digital-dependent nature of contemporary society, the Anti-Cybercrimes Against Children Section stands as a beacon of protection, tirelessly working to shield minors from exploitation and harm in the online realm.
