Dubai, UAE – The “Winter of Innovation” initiative by Dubai Police, coinciding with the UAE Innovation Month, looks at how the Internet of Things (IoT) can change our future lives and government services because technology is growing fast worldwide.

In its second year, the Winter of Innovation initiative returns to focus on making city services more innovative to improve people’s lives, make things easier for everyone, and support the idea of sustainability and innovative services to make places safer and happier.

Lieutenant Colonel Khalid Al Mazrouei, Director of Dubai Police Innovation Labs, explained that the initiative is happening again this year after a successful first season. It includes many discussion and brainstorming sessions about innovation and sustainability, which is especially important as the “Year of Sustainability” has been extended to 2024 by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.

“The initiative brings together partners from different fields and Dubai Police personnel, showing the commitment to innovation in government work and society as envisioned by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai,” Al Mazrouei added.

He further confirmed that the ‘Winter of Innovation’ initiative aims to find ways to improve police work, plan for the future, and make society happier and safer through innovation.

During the event, Khalid Mansour Al Awadhi, founder of Remal IoT, talked about how the internet has evolved to include the Internet of Things. Meanwhile, Bassam Al Bouari from Dell Technologies and Hany Khalaf, a tech officer at the company, discussed how innovation is critical to building future cities by 2030, including in health, education, and technology, and how innovation helps make cities more sustainable.
