Dubai, UAE – The Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation (DIDI) has announced a groundbreaking initiative aimed at fostering a diverse community of design thinkers and leaders. In alignment with the Dubai Creative Economic Strategy, DIDI is offering a special Ramadan discount to encourage aspiring students to embark on their design education journey.
As part of this initiative, DIDI will reduce first-year tuition fees by AED10,000 for students who apply and secure their spots for the September 2024 intake during the holy month of Ramadan. This move reflects DIDI’s commitment to expanding access to design education and empowering individuals to shape the future through creative problem-solving and innovation.
Mohammad Abdullah, President of DIDI, emphasized the importance of equipping students with the fundamentals of design thinking, especially in today’s digitally driven knowledge economy. He stated, “Empowering students with the fundamentals of design thinking is an imperative, particularly for those coming of age in a digitally enabled knowledge economy.”
The discounted tuition fee initiative not only aims to support a wider scope of prospective students but also underscores DIDI’s dedication to removing financial barriers to higher education. By providing students with invaluable skills such as innovative thinking, creative problem-solving, and collaboration, DIDI seeks to enable future generations to drive sustainable positive change in their communities.
The discount is applicable to both domestic and international students applying to DIDI’s undergraduate program, developed in collaboration with prestigious institutions such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and The New School’s Parsons School of Design. To qualify for the discount, students must submit their applications and tuition deposits before the end of Ramadan.
DIDI’s Bachelor of Design program offers students the opportunity to specialize in one of four disciplines: Product Design, Multimedia Design, Fashion Design, and Strategic Design Management. Through a rigorous and interdisciplinary curriculum, students gain expertise in design, engineering, and business management, ensuring they are equipped with adaptable skills for the rapidly evolving design and digital job landscape.
Furthermore, DIDI provides students with hands-on learning experiences through collaborations with industry-leading brands and experts. The university’s participation in initiatives such as the Sustainable Markets Initiative’s Terra Carta Design Lab demonstrates its commitment to addressing pressing global challenges, including the climate crisis.
Located in the heart of the Dubai Design District (d3), DIDI offers students a vibrant and dynamic learning environment surrounded by creative professionals and businesses shaping Dubai’s creative economy. With applications now open for the 2024 academic year, aspiring designers are encouraged to visit the DIDI website for more information on how to apply.
