DUBAI, UAE – The Government of Dubai has announced the launch of a new international prayer times application, Dulook DXB. The app covers over 50,000 cities across 190 countries worldwide and is set to aid millions of Muslims in performing their five daily prayers, known as salah.

The release of the app comes ahead of Ramadan, which is expected to begin around March 12. The timing of the five daily prayers – Fajir at dawn, Dhur at midday, Asr in the late afternoon, Maghr just after sunset, and Isha between sunset and midnight – varies based on the sun’s movement. These prayers are obligatory for capable adults.

Dulook DXB is completely free and ad-free. It employs Sharia-compliant criteria, considering astronomical factors and altitude, to accurately calculate prayer timings. The app was developed by the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai, with oversight from the International Astronomical Centre. It allows users to calculate alternative prayer times if Sharia indicators are unavailable.

The app is accessible in English and Arabic, accommodating people with disabilities and aligning with official prayer schedules in many countries. Dulook DXB is available for free on Google Play and the Apple App Store.
