Sharjah, UAE – Arada, the UAE-based real estate developer, has announced the third year of its landmark Ramadan campaign, ‘Home for a Home’. The initiative aims to provide homes for vulnerable families, with a particular focus this year on internally displaced families in Syria affected by recent conflict and the February 2023 earthquakes.

For every home sold at Arada’s communities during Ramadan, a new home will be built in Syria. The initiative is in partnership with Sharjah charity The Big Heart Foundation (TBHF) and international NGO Human Concern International (HCI). The plan is to build a full residential community near Aleppo, complete with essential facilities including a school, mosque, clinic, playground, and shops.

Each home will come pre-stocked with essential items such as blankets, carpets, kitchen utensils, a gas oven, washing machine, wardrobe, and fridge. The school and clinic will also be equipped with necessary items including school bags, recreational kits, furniture, stationery, and staff clothing.

The construction of the community aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, prioritizing environmental sustainability and mandating contractors to adhere to environmental standards. The campaign reflects Arada’s commitment to sustainable development and embodies the UAE’s principles of humanitarianism.

Mariam Al Hammadi, Director General of TBHF, praised Arada’s commitment to broadening the initiative’s outreach to more countries and communities in the region.

Iftikhar Shaikh Ahmad, Global Director of Programs at HCI, highlighted the dire conditions faced by displaced families in Syria and expressed hope that the initiative would provide not only homes but also critical community services to those most in need.

The first two editions of the ‘Home for a Home’ initiative, in partnership with THBF and UNHCR, have successfully built over 700 homes for refugee families in northern Kenya, along with sustainable water supply infrastructure supporting 43,000 people. The initiative was recognized at the 2023 Arabia CSR Awards for its innovative partnership model.
