Sony Pictures Networks India Secures New Zealand Cricket Rights

Mumbai, India – Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has sealed a monumental seven-year deal to exclusively broadcast and stream all matches featuring New Zealand’s cricket teams, the BLACKCAPS and WHITE FERNS, from May 1, 2024, to April 30, 2031.

Under this agreement, SPNI will showcase India’s tours of New Zealand in the upcoming 2026-27 and 2030-31 seasons, along with all bilateral Tests, ODIs, and T20Is held in New Zealand during the stipulated period. Cricket enthusiasts can catch all the action live on SPNI’s sports channels and via streaming on Sony LIV.

NP Singh, Managing Director and CEO of SPNI, expressed his enthusiasm for this partnership, emphasizing New Zealand’s global reputation for outstanding sportsmanship. He described it as an honor to deepen the connection between the esteemed New Zealand cricket teams and their passionate fan base in India.

Diana Puketapu-Lyndon, Chair of New Zealand Cricket (NZC), hailed SPNI as one of India’s premier sports content providers, welcoming the collaboration.

The BLACKCAPS have recently enjoyed remarkable success, clinching the inaugural World Test Championship title in 2021 and securing a runner-up position in the previous T20 World Cup.

Rajesh Kaul, SPNI’s Chief Revenue Officer for Distribution & International Business and Head of Sports Business, underscored the significance of this partnership in enhancing SPNI’s sports portfolio, aiming to create a global multi-sporting platform for Indian audiences.

NZC chief executive Scott Weenink expressed his satisfaction with the deal, highlighting the shared values of aspiration, innovation, and consumer focus between the two organizations.

Additionally, it was announced that the digital rights in India for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons will be co-exclusive with Amazon Prime, adding further dimension to the broadcasting landscape for cricket enthusiasts in the region.
