Dubai Police ‘Hemaya’ raises Security Awareness in Ramadan Tents

Dubai, UAE – The Awareness and Rehabilitation Section at the International Hemaya Centre of the General Department of Anti-Narcotics at Dubai Police, in collaboration with the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai and the General Department of Community Happiness at Dubai Police, has conducted a series of informative workshops for fasting individuals during Ramadan.

The workshops, which reached over 2000 people, were held at various Iftar tents across the city, including the Rashid bin Mohammed Masjid tent in Al Hudaiba area, the Al Shuhada Masjid tent in Al Muhaisnah area, and Masjid Al Rwashed tent in Al Ttay area. The workshops focused on drug-related issues, associated risks, and reporting procedures.

Colonel Dr. Abdulrahman Sharaf Al Maamari, Director of the International Hemaya Center, emphasized that these workshops are part of the ongoing collaborative efforts between Dubai’s Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department. The workshops aim to reinforce values of compassion, unity, and mutual support, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.

The workshops also provide an ideal platform to raise awareness among labour communities, delivering informative messages in both English and Urdu languages. They cover security and awareness guidelines regarding the dangers of drugs and their social, security, and behavioural impacts, as well as Article 89 of the UAE Anti-Narcotics Law.

1st Lieutenant Saif Mohammed Al Khor, Acting Head of the Awareness and Rehabilitation Section, highlighted that the Section operates in alignment with Dubai Police’s strategy, which aims to promote a culture of security among all citizens and residents of Dubai. He added that the Section collaborates with partners to organize field visits and deliver informative workshops and lectures, addressing the harmful effects of drugs and their psychological and social impact on individuals and society.

1st Lt. Al Khor emphasized that the Awareness and Rehabilitation Section provides a comprehensive range of programs designed to enhance security awareness and protect the community from factors that could jeopardize individual and societal stability. He affirmed the Section’s commitment to conducting diverse and ongoing programs in collaboration with partners, targeting various segments of society and delivering them in multiple languages throughout the year.
