GISEC Global 2024 hosts the first Global CyberDrill enhancing countries’ cyber readiness and response capabilities

Cybersecurity authorities and agencies from over 100 countries to engage with simulated cyberattacks in real time across different scenarios

Dubai, UAE – GISEC Global, the premier cybersecurity exhibition in the Middle East and Africa, is set to host a landmark event – the inaugural in-person Global CyberDrill. Organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and hosted by the United Arab Emirates Cyber Security Council, the CyberDrill aims to unite cybersecurity teams from over 100 countries to enhance global cooperation and resilience against cyber threats.

Expected to take place from April 23-25 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, GISEC Global will see participation from more than 750 leading cybersecurity companies, alongside 350 distinguished speakers and over 1,000 cybersecurity professionals from various corners of the globe.

The Global CyberDrill is designed to complement the exhibition, providing a unique platform for cross-border collaboration in combating cyber threats. Over the course of three days, participating teams will engage in simulated real-world cyberattacks, testing their readiness and fostering real-time collaboration to enhance response capabilities.

Dr. Cosmas Luckyson Zavazava, Director of the Telecommunication Development Bureau at ITU, expressed the significance of the Global CyberDrill in strengthening cybersecurity globally. He emphasized the hands-on nature of the exercises, enabling participants to learn and refine their responses to cyber incidents, while also fostering dialogue on key cybersecurity topics such as resilience, diplomacy, and artificial intelligence.

He underscored the CyberDrill’s role in showcasing new approaches and technologies to safeguard critical infrastructure, emphasizing the need for public-private collaboration to bolster cybersecurity defenses.
