Abu Dhabi, UAE – The Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi held a special event to celebrate the life and work of the late Jamiluddin Aali, one of the subcontinent’s most renowned poets, writers, columnists, and dramatists. The highlight of the event was the screening of a documentary that chronicled various aspects of Aali’s remarkable life and literary journey.
Aali’s son, Zulqarnain Jamil Aali, was the guest of honor at the event, where he shared personal anecdotes and insights into his father’s life, including his struggles after migration and his unwavering commitment to promoting national unity, women’s equality, Urdu literature, and a culture of tolerance.
In his address, Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi paid rich tribute to Jamiluddin Aali’s long struggle and invaluable contributions to Pakistan’s literary and cultural landscape. He highlighted Aali’s thought-provoking columns in Pakistan’s daily newspapers, which often shed light on political, cultural, and socio-economic issues.
Ambassador Tirmizi also acknowledged Aali’s role in crafting the iconic national anthem “Jeevay Jeevay Pakistan,” which has become a symbol of Pakistan’s global recognition. Additionally, he commended Zulqarnain Aali’s contributions to the development of the UAE during his 15-year tenure as a member of the UBL team from the 1980s to the 1990s.
