Abu Dhabi, UAE – The 33rd Abu Dhabi International Book Fair is featuring a special pavilion celebrating Egypt as this year’s Guest of Honour. The highlight is a recreation of Cairo’s historic El-Azbakeya Wall, showcasing Egypt’s rich cultural heritage through ancient books and publications.

The El-Azbakeya Wall pavilion offers visitors a trip back in time with its unique aesthetics modeled after an ancient market in central Cairo. Divided into ten sections, it houses a vast collection of rare and valuable books from renowned Egyptian authors, artists, and thought leaders across various genres.

“Creating a pavilion resembling the El-Azbakeya Wall introduces the public to the inherent value that this wall holds in Egyptian culture,” said Mohammed Sadek, Head of the Arab Archive Corner for Heritage. “It offers a chance to showcase samples from the exhibits, including rare books and magazines, creating a unique experience that sheds light on this very important aspect of Egyptian cultural history.”

Established in 1907, the original El-Azbakeya Wall in Cairo is an integral part of Egypt’s cultural legacy and a valuable resource for researchers and students. The replica at the book fair aims to convey the messages of enlightenment and free thought that are hallmarks of modern and contemporary Egyptian culture.

In addition to the El-Azbakeya Wall pavilion, visitors can experience a series of events celebrating Egypt’s culture, architecture, and history during the book fair. Organizers emphasize that this is a rare opportunity for audiences in the UAE to explore Egypt’s invaluable cultural and historical treasures.
