Dubai, UAE – Emirates NBD, a prominent banking group in the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey region, organized an event at the Polaris Camp in Dubai Investment Park to commemorate Labour Day. The focus of the event was raising awareness about safe banking practices among labourers as part of the bank’s “United Against Fraud” campaign.
The event featured a video screening, a skit performance, and a quiz on fraud prevention. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the quiz. Vouchers from a local supermarket near the camp were also handed out, and dinner was served. Asian influencer Mamta Sachdeva of “Travel with Mamta” fame attended the event to engage with the labourers and amplify the bank’s efforts in educating them about safe banking.
Emirates NBD has pledged to protect its customers through various programs, products, and solutions as they conduct digital banking transactions. The bank has committed a significant portion of its AED 1 billion digital transformation investment towards strengthening its infrastructure, digital processes, and analytics.
“As a national banking champion, we target our efforts to protect our customers as they work towards fulfilling their financial objectives,” said Vijay Bains, Group Chief Sustainability Officer and Group Head of ESG at Emirates NBD. “Human error remains one of the largest vulnerabilities for cyberattacks, and events like these generate awareness among labourers who are susceptible to fraud incidents just like any other segment of the UAE population.”
Rohit Garg, Group Head of Business Banking at Emirates NBD, emphasized the importance of educating the community and customers about staying vigilant and protecting themselves from fraudulent activities. “Fraud comes in many forms, from calls impersonating public departments to delivery messages and suspicious calls from banks,” he said. “As a homegrown financial institution, we believe in educating our community and our customers on the need to stay vigilant and ways to protect themselves from fraudulent activity.”
Emirates NBD has launched several public service campaigns on safe banking in partnership with the Dubai Police over the years. Recently, the bank collaborated with Dubai Police and Leo Burnett on a campaign titled “#theywontsurvive,” aimed at raising public awareness about cybersecurity and encouraging customers to report fraudulent activities or attempts.
