Dubai, UAE – Dubai Police, in collaboration with community members, recently spearheaded the “An Hour for Dubai” initiative to address the aftermath of heavy rainfall, rallying over 200 volunteers, including individuals with disabilities and senior citizens, to restore cleanliness to the streets and neighborhoods surrounding Al Barsha.

Brigadier Majid Al Suwaidi, Director of Al Barsha Police Station, underscored the collective response to recent weather challenges, stating, “Citizens and residents came together during and after the weather’s recent fluctuations to assist those affected and volunteered with teams and official entities to mitigate the damage.”

The initiative, driven by a sense of community responsibility, aimed to address the debris and disruptions left by the extreme weather conditions. “Stemming from our community responsibility at Al Barsha Police Station, we announced the ‘An Hour for Dubai’ initiative to clean the roads and streets within our jurisdiction,” Al Suwaidi remarked.

The collaborative effort encompassed a diverse range of volunteers, including people with determination, senior citizens, and children, who joined forces with the police to rejuvenate the affected areas.

Ahmad Qambar, an employee at Al Barsha Police Station and a person of determination, elaborated on the initiative’s objectives, stating, “We formed volunteer teams and distributed them at specific points, and the work continued for ten days in both Al Barsha 1 and Al Barsha 2 areas.” Qambar emphasized the critical role played by cooperating entities, such as Al Sadaf Decoration Company and Al Yousuf Company, in facilitating the cleaning operations.

Furthermore, the initiative extended beyond mere cleanup efforts, as collaboration with local organizations like Al Barsha Ferjan enabled the distribution of essential supplies to those in need. Qambar noted, “We also collaborated with Al Barsha Ferjan to deliver meals and supplies to those in need, especially after they could not reach stores due to rainwater accumulations.”

The “An Hour for Dubai” initiative stands as a testament to the community’s resilience and solidarity in the face of adversity, reflecting a concerted effort to ensure the well-being and cleanliness of Dubai’s neighborhoods.
