Dubai, UAE – GE Aerospace has announced the inauguration of the GE Aerospace Foundation, marking a significant stride forward that builds upon the illustrious 100-year legacy of its predecessor, the GE Foundation. With a steadfast commitment to “lift people up” within GE Aerospace communities, the foundation’s philanthropic endeavors are poised to usher in a new era of positive impact.

GE Aerospace Chairman and CEO, H. Lawrence Culp, Jr., emphasized the profound responsibility the company bears towards fortifying the communities it serves. He expressed his confidence in the transformative potential of the GE Aerospace Foundation, leveraging the company’s global stature in the aerospace sector to effect tangible change. Culp Jr. voiced his anticipation for the Foundation’s enduring contribution to societal betterment.

The Foundation’s initiatives are delineated across three key pillars, amounting to over $22 million in fresh programming until 2030. These encompass workforce development, disaster relief, and the augmentation of GE Aerospace employees’ philanthropic endeavors.

Meghan Thurlow, President of the GE Aerospace Foundation, underscored the organization’s zeal to steer the next phase of philanthropic support towards fostering a resilient future workforce, responding to crises, and empowering employee engagement.

Next Engineers and STEM Education
A cornerstone of the Foundation’s agenda is the commitment of $20 million towards expanding Next Engineers, a global program aimed at diversifying the engineering workforce by nurturing talent from middle school through college. Notably, the Foundation pledged to prolong the successful Cincinnati program and extend its reach to four additional cities, including Warsaw, Poland.

Workforce Development
Responding to escalating demands in aviation and manufacturing sectors, the Foundation earmarked $2 million to bolster workforce development initiatives. A strategic partnership worth $1 million with the United Way of Greater Cincinnati is set to streamline various skill-building programs, thereby enhancing their efficacy and impact.

Disaster Relief and Humanitarian Efforts
Drawing upon GE Aerospace’s multifaceted resources, the Foundation announced a $2 million commitment to disaster relief and humanitarian endeavors. Notably, a $1 million partnership with Airlink Flight underscores the pivotal role of aviation in facilitating rapid response during crises.

Matching Gifts Program
The Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to the Matching Gifts program, augmenting employees’ personal philanthropic initiatives. Additionally, the STAR Awards program, providing scholarships to children of GE Aerospace employees globally, continues to thrive.

The inception of the GE Aerospace Foundation follows hot on the heels of GE Aerospace’s transition into an independent public entity, marking a significant milestone in the trajectory of the aviation industry.
