Dubai, UAE – Dubai Police has successfully streamlined the processing of electronic evidence cases, reducing the timeline from 27 days to just 12 days. This significant improvement has been achieved through a new operational workflow implemented by the General Department of Forensic Sciences and Criminology.

The primary beneficiaries of this initiative are individuals filing simple complaints and reports. Major General Ahmad bin Ghulaita, Director of the General Department of Forensic Sciences and Criminology, emphasized the department’s commitment to addressing challenges creatively and enhancing operational systems for high performance.

Colonel Rashid Lootah, Director of Electronic Forensic Evidence, highlighted the department’s thorough analysis of time-related processes involved in electronic cases, such as social media communications and surveillance camera footage review.

“From complaint registration at the police station to the delivery of the report, this initiative has transformed a significant challenge into an opportunity for improvement, ensuring swifter case handling,” Colonel Lootah stated.

The new timeline system includes strategically placing electronic evidence experts and technical officers at police stations, modifying the workflow to allow rapid coordination between the forensic laboratory and evidence officers at the police stations.

Colonel Lootah further explained, “This change has significantly decreased the number of cases forwarded to the central laboratory to 30%, reduced the timeline for handling simple electronic complaints by 15 days, and minimized the need for individuals to visit more than once.”

The Dubai Police’s proactive measures in streamlining electronic evidence processing underscore their commitment to delivering efficient and citizen-centric services, setting a benchmark for other law enforcement agencies to follow.
