Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Riyadh Air, Saudi Arabia’s innovative new airline, has taken a major step toward entering the Chinese market by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China Eastern Airlines. The agreement, finalized at the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Annual General Meeting on June 3, 2024, in Dubai, heralds a significant advancement in economic and cultural collaboration between China and Saudi Arabia.

Strengthening Ties and Enhancing Connectivity

The partnership between Riyadh Air and China Eastern Airlines is poised to unlock new travel opportunities, particularly for underserved markets. This move comes shortly after China Eastern Airlines initiated direct flights from Shanghai to Riyadh, showcasing a mutual commitment to boosting connectivity and fostering collaboration in trade, tourism, and culture.

Tony Douglas, CEO of Riyadh Air, emphasized the importance of this milestone: “This MoU marks a significant milestone for Riyadh Air as China is a hugely important market for our future network.
