Dubai, UAE – The UAE’s Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications Office has joined forces with Samsung Gulf Electronics to enhance artificial intelligence (AI) adoption and development within the UAE. This collaboration is solidified through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) during the “AI Retreat 2024,” organized by the Dubai Center for Artificial Intelligence (DCAI) in collaboration with the National Program for Artificial Intelligence.
The MOU underscores a shared commitment to the UAE’s Artificial Intelligence Strategy, which aims to establish the UAE as a global leader in AI by 2031. The collaboration aligns with Samsung’s efforts to leverage AI for economic growth, sustainable development, and community well-being.
Saqr Binghalib, Executive Director of the UAE’s AI Office, emphasized the significance of government-private sector partnerships in achieving national AI objectives. He highlighted that integrating technical and AI expertise on a global scale is essential for accelerating the UAE’s AI ecosystem, building future competencies, and empowering the next generation of AI pioneers.
DooHee Lee, President of Samsung Gulf Electronics, expressed Samsung’s dedication to using technology and AI for societal benefits. He voiced pride in partnering with the UAE AI Office to support the UAE’s ambitious AI vision, fostering AI adoption in government, nurturing local talent, and demonstrating AI’s potential for positive transformation. This partnership builds on Samsung’s initiatives, such as the launch of Galaxy AI.
As part of the MOU, both organizations will jointly promote AI learning among the youth through various initiatives. Notably, Samsung’s Innovation Campus (SIC) CSR program will be integrated into the UAE’s AI Summer Camp 2024 edition. Additionally, the Galaxy AI Pioneers program will be launched to train youth on AI.
The Galaxy AI Pioneers program is a month-long course designed for students aged 13-18, offering a comprehensive introduction to AI, machine learning, and Python coding. The curriculum covers essential AI concepts like deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and AI robotics. Delivered in a hybrid online and onsite format, the program combines theoretical learning with hands-on experience.
Participants will develop AI applications, leveraging Galaxy AI features to support their innovative ideas. Upon completion, students will receive a certificate from the UAE Office of AI, acknowledging their achievements and newly acquired AI skills.
Samsung Innovation Campus, Samsung’s global citizenship program, provides ICT education to youth, covering AI, IoT, Big Data, Coding, and Programming, along with soft skills training to prepare talented youth for future societal roles.
