Dubai, UAE – P&G Health, the makers of Neurobion, has launched its third consecutive Neuropathy Awareness Week in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. This year’s campaign features a novel partnership with local pharmacies, aiming to educate the public about peripheral neuropathy (PN) and vitamin B deficiency.

The initiative, themed #KnowtheSigns and #TesttheSigns, introduces interactive Neurobion Kiosks in participating pharmacies. These kiosks offer a simple ‘Touch Test’ for consumers to check for symptoms of PN and vitamin B deficiency.

Tarek Abdelaziz, Vice President of P&G Health for Middle East & Africa, emphasized the crucial role of pharmacies as the first point of contact in healthcare. “Through this collaboration, we aim to bring awareness and testing closer to our consumers,” Abdelaziz stated.

The campaign addresses a significant health concern in the region. According to recent statistics, PN affects 34-35% of the UAE’s diabetic population, while in Saudi Arabia, over 65% of diabetes patients suffer from painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy.

Ahmad Mousa, Medical & Technical Affairs Lead for Neurobion Middle East, highlighted preventive measures against PN, including a balanced diet, regular exercise, and the potential benefits of neurotropic B vitamins.

P&G Health’s Neurobion, containing a combination of vitamins B1, B6, and B12, is promoted as a solution to help repair nerve damage, restore nerve function, and regenerate nerves to alleviate neuropathy symptoms.

The campaign also aims to address the underdiagnosis of PN, with reports suggesting that 80% of patients remain undiagnosed. Abdelaziz stressed the importance of early diagnosis for better treatment outcomes and improved quality of life.

As Neuropathy Awareness Week continues, this collaborative effort between P&G Health and local pharmacies represents a significant step in addressing a prevalent yet often overlooked health issue in the Middle East.
