Dubai Chambers organises four legal workshops on import/export regulations, virtual assets, corporate governance and labour laws

Dubai, UAE – Dubai Chambers recently organized a series of four legal workshops designed to enhance the local business community’s compliance with laws across various key sectors. These interactive sessions, which drew a total of 340 participants from the private sector, are part of Dubai Chambers’ ongoing efforts to raise awareness about the latest legislative developments affecting all business sectors. The initiative aims to bolster the competitiveness of companies operating in Dubai and support sustainable business growth by ensuring adherence to laws and regulations and the adoption of best practices.

The first workshop, conducted virtually in collaboration with Clout Legal Consultancy, focused on managing import and export operations with local traders and dealers. Participants gained insights into effective risk management strategies to mitigate the risk of unpaid debts and learned about compliance requirements related to imports and exports, payment security, tax implications, and dispute resolution and recovery. The session also included a case study that highlighted the regulatory and legal environments in various countries.

The second online workshop, held in partnership with Afridi & Angell, delved into the licensing and regulation of virtual asset businesses. The session explored the local virtual assets landscape and the key factors driving the growth of cryptocurrency transactions in the UAE. Attendees also learned about the Dubai Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority’s role as a regulator and discussed industry best practices.

In the third workshop, organized in collaboration with Watson Farley & Williams and FTI Consulting, participants examined corporate governance and compliance from both legal and practical perspectives. Through real-world case studies, attendees gained a better understanding of the local and regional legal landscapes and discussed the latest trends, auditing mechanisms, and compliance verification.

The fourth workshop, an Arabic language webinar held in partnership with Eman Al-Rifai Advocates and Legal Consultants, focused on the UAE Labor Law. The session covered various types of employment contracts, the legalities surrounding the termination of employment contracts, and the principles governing the relationship between workers and employers.

These workshops are a testament to Dubai Chambers’ commitment to fostering a robust and compliant business environment in the emirate, ensuring that companies remain competitive and well-informed about the latest legal requirements and best practices.
