Dubai, UAE – Index Exchange has marked a major milestone with its innovative and aggressive campaign, “Iss Baar, Hundi Pe Waar,” aimed at combating illegal remittances. The initiative, launched on Pakistan’s 77th Independence Day, has received widespread acclaim for its impact at the grassroots level, especially among the Pakistani expatriate community.
The campaign’s success was celebrated during a grand event attended by key figures, including Mr. Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE. Ambassador Tirmizi praised Index Exchange for being the first to launch such a robust initiative against illegal remittance channels like Hundi and Hawala, which pose significant threats to Pakistan’s economy. In his address, he highlighted the often-overlooked detrimental effects of these illegal practices and stressed the importance of legal remittances.
“We salute our blue-collar expatriates who are indeed the ‘unsung heroes’ for using legal channels to send money back home. Campaigns like ‘Iss Baar, Hundi Pe Waar’ launched by Index Exchange are crucial in raising awareness, and we, as the Pakistani mission in the UAE, fully support these efforts,” stated Ambassador Tirmizi.
The campaign has resonated strongly with the community, with over 400,000 Pakistani expatriates taking a pledge against illegal remittances and participating in various awareness and entertainment activities organized by Index Exchange. The event saw participation from officials of Al Hail Holding Group, Index Exchange management, the Pakistan Business Council, prominent businessmen, and representatives from Pakistani banks and associations.
Humayun Murad, Executive Director of Index Exchange, expressed his gratitude towards the community for their overwhelming support, stating, “We have been serving the community for the last 48 years and are committed to continuing our mission of promoting legal remittances and supporting Pakistan’s economy.”

The event also featured a detailed presentation by Mir K Rasool, Chief Business Officer of Index Exchange, who outlined the campaign’s strategies and successes. He noted the essential role legal remittances play in supporting millions of families in Pakistan and contributing to the nation’s economic growth.
