Abu Dhabi, UAE – The Pakistan Embassy in Abu Dhabi hosted a grand reception to mark Defence Day of Pakistan onboard the Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) Shamsheer at the Cruise Terminal, Mina Zayed Port. The event was graced by notable dignitaries, including Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi and Commodore Shahid Wasif SI (M), Mission Commander of the Pakistan Navy, who warmly welcomed the Chief Guest, General Salem Saeed Al Jabri, UAE’s Assistant Foreign Minister for Military & Security Affairs, and Brigadier Abdullah Al Mohairbi, Deputy Commander of the UAE Navy.
The reception saw the attendance of various diplomatic corps and officials from the UAE government, highlighting the strong diplomatic ties between the two nations. A cake-cutting ceremony was also held to commemorate the occasion.
In his welcome address, Commodore Shahid Wasif announced the commencement of the bilateral exercise ‘Nasl Al Bahr’ between Pakistan and the UAE in the UAE waters. He emphasized that this exercise aims to strengthen cooperation, enhance interoperability, and build capacities between the two navies.
Ambassador Faisal Tirmizi, in his speech, highlighted the longstanding partnership between the Pakistan and UAE Armed Forces, noting their shared commitment to achieving peace, stability, and security in the region. He remarked that the history of close collaboration between the two militaries predates the unification of the Emirates, reflecting deep-rooted ties that have now evolved into a stronger partnership. This is evidenced by the UAE Navy hosting the Pakistan Navy’s PN flotilla for the fifth edition of exercise Nasl Al Bahr.
Ambassador Tirmizi also acknowledged the contributions of retired Pakistani veterans in the UAE, who have significantly strengthened bilateral relations by serving as instructors and in the defence industry. He expressed gratitude to the UAE’s Ministry of Defence for their warm hospitality towards PNS Shamsheer & Haibat and for jointly celebrating this important occasion.
