Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – The Middle East is poised to lead the way in the development of some of the most advanced smart cities over the next decade, driven by the visionary leadership of regional countries focusing on creating smart, sustainable urban environments. This was highlighted by Eng. Thamer Anwar Noori, Director of Industrial Safety & Security at the Royal Commission of Jubail & Yanbu, ahead of his participation in Intersec Saudi Arabia.
Noori will be a key speaker at the Future Security & Safety Summit, scheduled from October 1 to 3 at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Centre (RICEC). He will participate in a panel discussion titled “Paving the way towards smart, safe, sustainable cities,” discussing strategies and innovative security approaches essential for future smart cities.
“Cities worldwide are increasingly integrating smart city objectives into their long-term visions. With the growing global focus on environmental sustainability, the concept of smart cities plays a crucial role in this transition. By optimizing urban functionality and enhancing energy efficiency, smart cities contribute significantly to creating more sustainable and livable environments,” Noori emphasized.
He added that the Middle East is heavily investing in green energy, with projects like NEOM and the Red Sea Project setting benchmarks for near-zero waste and sustainable urban living.
The summit’s first day will feature several important sessions, including discussions on international collaboration for national security, security strategies for island and coastal tourism, and the implications of AI on cybersecurity. The second day will focus on future-proofing security, developing business continuity plans in the digital era, and the impact of AI on the security and safety industry. The final day will be dedicated to the Future Readiness Program, providing government officials and security leaders a platform to explore evolving security threats and emerging risks.
Riham Sedik, Show Manager for Intersec Saudi Arabia, stated, “Our conference will bring together global security thought leaders, cutting-edge innovations, and expert insights under one roof, making it a must-attend event for those in the sector.”
