Harare – The NY Lagos Strikers have made a powerful statement in the Zim Afro T10 tournament, securing two consecutive victories to open their campaign. The Strikers claimed victories against the Bulawayo Brave Jaguars and Jo’Burg Bangla Tigers, showcasing a blend of skill, resilience, and high energy.

South African cricketer Rassie van der Dussen emerged as the star of the tournament so far, delivering match-winning performances in both games. His half-century against the Bulawayo Brave Jaguars was a key factor in the Strikers’ first win, and he followed that up with an even more impressive unbeaten 81 against the Jo’Burg Bangla Tigers. Van der Dussen’s consistent form has established him as a pivotal player for the Strikers.

Reflecting on his stellar performances, van der Dussen remarked, “It was a competitive start, but once I got through the swinging balls, I gained momentum. The support from my teammates made it possible for us to maintain the pressure on our opposition.”

In the first match against the Bulawayo Brave Jaguars, van der Dussen scored 51 runs, marking the first half-century of Season 2. His 79-run partnership with Avishka Fernando in just over six overs shifted the momentum decisively in favor of the Strikers.

In the second match against Jo’Burg Bangla Tigers, van der Dussen continued his explosive form, smashing 81 runs off just 32 balls. His innings featured 8 sixes and 4 boundaries, thrilling the crowd and solidifying the Strikers’ commanding victory.

Speaking about the T10 format, van der Dussen commented, “It’s all about getting a good start and maintaining rhythm. Once we establish pressure, it’s hard for the opposition to recover. I’ve had great chemistry with Avishka, and our opening stands have given us the platform to dominate.”

Strikers’ teammate Thisara Perera added his thoughts on the team’s winning streak, saying, “Winning two games back-to-back feels great. We’ve put in hard work during practice sessions, and it’s paying off. Now, we just need to maintain this momentum.”

As the NY Lagos Strikers continue their strong run in the tournament, van der Dussen left a message for their fans: “It’s fun playing T10, and it’s even more fun when we win. Thank you for your support, and keep watching!”

The NY Lagos Strikers have made a solid start, and with van der Dussen leading the charge, they look poised to be serious contenders in this year’s Zim Afro T10 tournament.
