Dubai, UAE – The AgraME 2024, the Middle East’s longest-running exhibition for agriculture, animal farming, and aquaculture, has officially opened under the patronage of the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment. The event, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, was inaugurated by His Excellency Dawoud Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality, and His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Salman Al Hammadi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Food Diversity Sector, who also delivered the opening address at the first-ever Regenerative Agriculture Middle East Conference.
During his address, Dr. Al Hammadi highlighted the significance of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s “Plant the Emirates” initiative, which promotes agriculture in homes, schools, and businesses across the UAE. He praised the initiative’s role in strengthening the country’s food security and resilience, noting the establishment of the National Agricultural Center as a key component in supporting farmers and fostering private-sector partnerships. “These efforts reinforce the UAE’s commitment to sustainability and food security,” he added.
The event’s Portfolio Director, Ahmed Khalil, also emphasized the success of AgraME 2024, noting its alignment with UAE Vision 2030 and the “Plant the Emirates” initiative. Khalil spoke about the event’s focus on addressing the UAE’s unique agricultural challenges, such as extreme heat, water scarcity, and desertification, while highlighting innovative regenerative farming practices that improve soil health, water conservation, and biodiversity.
A major highlight of AgraME 2024 is the launch of the Regenerative Agriculture Middle East Conference. Industry leaders and experts are discussing technologies like soil restoration, water-efficient farming, and carbon sequestration, all aimed at combating desertification and enhancing agricultural resilience in the region.
Eng. Ohoud Abdulla Mohamed Al Ali from Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) spoke on the use of drone technology in farm inspections, showcasing its role in improving efficiency and compliance through AI-driven solutions.
Industry leader Anthony Yandell of Balco Australia also praised the platform, highlighting the strategic importance of the UAE market and reaffirming his company’s commitment to sustainable agriculture advancements.
AgraME 2024 features over 150 exhibitors and expects to attract 6,000 decision-makers from over 180 countries. The event underscores its mission to advance food security, sustainability, and regenerative agriculture in the Middle East, with plans for an even larger showcase in 2025.
