Dubai: As part of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, the ICC’s Cricket4Good initiative, in partnership with UNICEF, hosted a series of empowering cricket clinics at the ICC Academy in Dubai. The sessions, featuring players from the India and England Women’s cricket teams, aimed to inspire young athletes, promoting inclusivity, teamwork, and resilience through the game of cricket.
The India Women’s team, represented by Shreyanka Patil, Radha Yadav, Yastika Bhatia, Tanuja Kanwar, Uma Chetry, and Sajeevan Sajana, led a dynamic session with a group of enthusiastic children. The players shared their cricketing expertise, offering guidance on skill-building exercises to enhance participants’ techniques. Spin bowlers Shreyanka and Radha provided key insights into their craft, while wicket-keeper-batters Yastika and Uma offered strategies for both wicket-keeping and batting. Tanuja and Sajeevan focused on fielding drills, sharing personal stories of perseverance that motivated the young athletes to embrace both the challenges and joys of cricket.
The England Women’s team, represented by stars such as Lauren Bell, Amy Jones, Maia Bouchier, and Linsey Smith, also conducted an engaging clinic. The players shared tips on fast bowling, wicket-keeping, and fielding techniques, reinforcing the core objectives of the Cricket4Good initiative.
By leveraging the global influence of cricket, the ICC’s Cricket4Good initiative continues to foster confidence, teamwork, and resilience among young girls, building a more inclusive and empowered community of future athletes.
