News DeskDubai: The Dubai Schools Games (DSG), a flagship initiative of the Dubai Sports Council, launched its 2024-25 season, focusing on promoting inclusion, diversity, and youth sports across the UAE. This season, Midea, a global home appliance manufacturer, joins as the title sponsor, alongside presenting partners Al Nabooda Auto (Volkswagen) and Almarai Emirates Company. This collaboration highlights the partners’ commitment to fostering community engagement, supporting youth athletics, and enhancing education through sports.
Ahmed Salem Al Mahri of the Dubai Sports Council expressed enthusiasm for Midea’s sponsorship, emphasizing how the growing tournament, which now attracts over 9,000 students from more than 180 schools, is key to developing the next generation of athletes. He noted that school sports tournaments are crucial in identifying talent, with many athletes progressing from these competitions into professional clubs.
Paris Li, General Manager of Midea Appliances MEA, underscored Midea’s mission of connecting with local communities, adding that the partnership aligns with the company’s vision of promoting active, healthy lifestyles. Dr. Abdulrahman Nasser from the Knowledge and Human Development Authority praised the event for uniting schools and providing an essential foundation for sports in the region.
The 2024-25 DSG season introduces Olympic sports like handball, wall climbing, fencing, and table tennis, aiming to broaden opportunities for students and nurture future Olympic talents. The games, hosted at prestigious venues such as Emirates Golf Club and Hamdan Sports Complex, offer a free platform for all students to participate, regardless of background or ability.
In addition to the competitive events, this season will feature the Unified Games, an inclusive event celebrating students of determination. The DSG Leaderboard will also return, honoring top performances, while the introduction of DSG records will add excitement to the competition.
Valued partners such as Al Ain Hydration and EMAHS will provide hydration and medical support, respectively. The season begins with the Teachers Championships at Top Golf Dubai, celebrating educators and their role in fostering sportsmanship among students.
With free admission for parents and spectators, the Dubai Schools Games promises a season of sportsmanship, development, and community, shaping future champions through the power of sports.
