Dubai: The much-anticipated opening race of the C1 Championship Season 4, the world’s first all-women camel racing series, took place yesterday in Dubai, setting an exciting tone for the season ahead. Jennifer Reggio claimed victory on her camel Aldookhi in a fiercely competitive 1200m race, showcasing the skill and determination of the female jockeys.
American Jennifer Reggio’s first career victory washard-earned, as she and Rawan Salah from Jordan, riding Manawr, battledhead-to-head for most of the race. In an unexpected turn, Jorina Niewhus, riding Joker, made a powerful push from the middle of the pack in the finalstretch, securing second place. Salah finished in third after an impressive performance throughout the race.
The event also welcomed two jockeys from the Abu Dhabi based training center, Salma Srour and Fatima Al Ameri, highlighting the series’ commitment to promoting new talent in the sport and the growth in training options. All jockeys competing in the series are licensed by the Dubai Camel Racing Club, ensuring the highest standards of competition and professionalism.
A large crowd of local fans turned out for the opening race,creating a vibrant atmosphere including variety of market stands and snack options, as well as the presence of Sponsors Al Ain Farms, Zabeel Feed Mills, and PalmFit were present, underscoring the growing support for women’s camel racing. The riders also unveiled their new sustainable racing kits, designed by PalmFit, reflecting the championship’s dedication to sustainability and eco-friendly practices.
